Lord forgive me, but I was not a happy Pregnant Girl this morning. I thanked Him profusely for this sweet Baby P that is growing and for the beautiful baby girl He has already given us. But darn it, I (blissfully) had forgotten these feelings that accompany the first trimester! I think I touched on the queasiness yesterday so I'll leave that one alone this morning. But the hormones. And the endless hunger! I think I did mention hunger yesterday, but it bears repeating. :-)
See, I have several blogs that I follow and this morning, I was reading one that discussed the delicious spaghetti recipe she made last night. Y'all, I don't like mushrooms, but her recipe sounded good. And to make matters worse, I checked out another blog which detailed the culinary discoveries of a recent trip to New Orleans. Think warm french bread, crawfish poboys, and other yummy delights. So I'm reading along, and it's 8:57 in the morning and now I am craving a crawfish poboy. Or shrimp. I could do shrimp, too. Yummy french bread, fried shrimp...oh baby there is a Rajun Cajun within minutes from here...what are the odds they are open at 9 am? None. So there will be no poboy this morning. Sigh.
But on a better food note, my sweet husband had dinner with the board members of We Care last night. At Chuy's. Really? He got Chuy's?? There used to be one of those by my office but for some reason closed about 3-4 years ago. I never understood because it was always packed. Always. Like you'd have to take an early lunch to make sure you had enough time to eat and get back before the office shut down at 5:00. So why close such a booming location? I haven't had Chuy's in years. But their queso blanco quesadillas...oh baby!! So anyway, as I struggled to feed Emma and get her to bed last night (our evening was shortened and it sort of got away from me) by the time it was my turn to eat, it was almost 8:00 and I was beyond hungry. Nothing sounded good anymore, I was too tired to cook, so I had a bowl of cereal. I know, lame. Particularly in light of this morning's post! But get this. My man is the best! He finally gets home right before 9:00 and says he has something for me. It seems they were given a sack lunch and he saved his sandwich as long as possible so that he wouldn't be terribly hungry for dinner. And he brought me his leftover fajitas. Thank you Jesus for this sweet man who would be so selfless to prolong his lunchtime hunger just so that he could have extras to bring home to his wife. Lord, if I haven't thanked you today for the sweet man you prepared for me, Thank You!! So as I sit here drooling over shrimp poboys that are not meant to be today, I have beef fajitas waiting for me in the refrigerator just down the hall. [insert LARGE grin here!]
